All I can say is hand soldering an assembled pickguard is not always as easy as one thinks. I often have difficulty getting my Butane Iron tip between the wires to the terminal when applying solder. I often have to think carefuly on what I will choose to sacrifice, my finger? a wire? or a bad looking solder joint? So needless to say I have burnt my finger and wires and had bad looking solder joints all at some point or another.
