On a 2006 American Series strat, would it be "normal" for the stock pickups and knobs ("parchment knobs and pickup covers") to look a little whiter than a parchment pick guard? Looking at picking up a 2006 American strat used. Serial number checks out with the pictures. (I'm assuming HSH routing, which is identified in the serial number info from Fender, is a standard routing - the strat is SSS.)

Also, while playing the whole 7 chords and two songs that I know right now, would I be able to tell a tone difference between an American Standard and one of the new MIM plus tops on my little Fender Mustang I amp?

In answer to both questions, yes.

If one switches out the pickups on the MIM Strat to Am Std pickups, would you still say "yes" to the second question?

The pickguard on my '04 50th Anniversary Am. Series Strat has darkened over time and doesn't match the knobs anymore.

As white plastic ages, it discolors. Not to mention if its in a smokey room or left outside, it will also discolor a bit too.
