Not the same amp in the link as in your picture.
1968 had the silverface with the drip edge trim. Most likely still had the blackface circuit which correlates to your numbers. if you had a 64/65 the front panel would be black, and no drip edge around the cloth.
still a very nice desirable amp.

The amp may also be a very early '69 model -- I base that on the fact that the grill cloth has the turquoise metallic weave rather than the cloth with the pale blue stripe unique to 1968. Numbers on the speakers and trannies will positively nail down the vintage.

Oh ya buddy it's cool He let me strum on it a couple of times when I was a kid and he taught me how to play the steel guitar rag on the guitar so it's a pretty cool and it has family history so it is in that way but he don't even play it anymore and it's an Americana semi-Holy Grail Stratocaster.

He has several guitars and don't get me wrong he has a another amp that he brags about so it isn't like taking Lucile away from BB. B)

My Dad taught me how to play and my uncle defiantly had some licks he showed me when I was growing up and playing more so there are some memories for me on the rig as well.

Seems to be a moot point, because I did't see any damage, but I had a Mustang that was damaged by a coiled cord being in the case. Chemical reaction that seemed to melt the paint and the cord. FWIW :D

That is only when that particular circuit was introduced, not necessarily the amp, and the circuit continued to be used in later years and even in other amps. The amp shown can not be any earlier than a late 67 because of the drip edge.

UPDATE: Ok This is not a sales ad nor am I trying to sell this here just giving you all an update on uncles 54 Strat, So....Uncle took the Guitar and the amp to JESSE AMOROSO at Cowtown Guitars in Las Vegas...Jesse appraised the Guitar at $40,000 He say's the SN# 1011 indicates that it was made in Aug of 1954 and is #11 off the line. ...He inspected the guitar inside and out and all of the parts are original except one knob that disintegrated.

Here is his write up

•Year: 1954
•Manufacturer: Fender®
•Model: Stratocaster®
•Case: Original Hard
•Color: Sunburst
•Condition: Very Good
•Description: WOW!!! One owner first time of the market! 1954 Stratocaster! Only changed parts are the knobs (one original is included) all else is 100% original. Body and neck both date August of 1954. Nice light weight at 7.2 pounds. Nice medium round neck profile with a nut width of 1 5/8ths. Pickups all work and read: 5.52 ohms Bridge 5.47 ohms Middle 5.16 ohms Neck Guitar includes original brown offset case and original strap. This is a rare opportunity to own a first year production Strat® that is completely uncirculated.

The Amp is a 1968 Vibrolux and he appraised it at $1350.00
My Uncle contracted with Jesse to Broker the Guitar and amp for him

Jesse has listed it on his website at $37,500 in hopes of a quick sale

That's all for now ......Will update you when it sells.

Al

Update: Ok A Fellow named Chris in Arkansas bought Uncles Guitar and is very happy about his purchase. He received it a couple of days ago and emailed me to let me know that the Strat would Not be placed in a glass case but would be played and loved.

So the new owner is happy and my uncle is happy.

I want to thank everyone here for their input and help in this matter.

Big Al

I'm glad it worked out for your uncle (but now you won't be able to play it).

For the record, this is not true. Fender made a few hundred with the serial number stamped into the plastic trem cover before putting the serial number on the neck plates. Then the numbers were not used consecutively.

For example, my 1954 Strat has a serial a couple dozen higher than your uncle's and it's body date is July, a month earlier!

That's what I have read, In any case when he took the neck off the guitar it was dated on the butt of the neck 8/54 so regardless of the number it was made in aug of 54
