My favorite Strat players are SRV, Clapton, and Hendrix. John Mayer isn't bad either.

There are so many great players it's hard to choose but only one stands out as being on the cutting edge when it all began and setting a high standard for those to follow. Someone who played from the heart and with a ton of God given talent. For a sample just go to youtube and type in Rory Gallagher and you'll see what I mean...truly one of the greats.
