Well, WELL, well...I can't believe I just read through 8 pages of posts...I also can't believe how many people appear to be confused about which guitar most people would associate with a particular guitar...I mean - C'MON! B.B. King with a Strat? Give me a break!
Keef without a tele? Derek Trucks without an SG? Oh, well...
When I think of my favorite players of a particular guitar, I think in terms of players who really did something unique to identify themselves with a particular instrument - kind of like Duane Allman with that beautiful Les Paul, or Keef with that 5-stringed tele.
So, ahem, without further adieu...
Robbie Robertson - one of the guys who influenced Clapton to make the switch...
Lowell George - such a sweet sound...
Ry Cooder - what more needs to be said?...
Mark Knoeffler - I may not have the spelling right - but I'd know that sound anywhere - no one made a Strat sound like that...
Tommy Castro - one of the best R&B players to ever strap on a Strat...
Jimi - the man who showed us what an electric guitar is SUPPOSED to be used for...
and...last but not least...
Stevie Ray - the man made the Stratocaster his own. I mean, NO ONE has ever made the Strat sound uniquely his own the way Stevie Ray did.
Just my opinion...

Stevie Ray, man, no question. Best ever, best forever. My favorite by a long shot.

Hendrix, Clapton, Robin Trower, Buddy Holly (started it all with that blue beauty), SRV, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, Dick Dale and how about George Harrison and Rocky?

For me it's gotta be Hendrix, Clapton, SRV, and Eddie Van Halen with his 'Franken-strat'.

My first Real Electric was my '88 Strat, so I have a Penchant for Modern Stratocasters, like the Deluxe Players Stratocaster, and the Power House Strat. Modern with a Vintage Vibe is my preference.

Hmmmmmm...been thinking - how about Rory Gallagher? Now there was a guy who could tear it up on a Strat!
