Ceri, I'm just saying we need a bit more ballance here.

The (other) Fender forum has many highly educated Amp techs and Guitar guys that are there to help out when you have a technical difficulty, it is however owned by a man in a silver tower who for entertainment cuts off your post, because he can and for no other reason.

We need tech people here too or we will become another teen hangout posted garbage that does nothing to help musicians reach their musical goals.

I have been helped here many times, but I have seen great questions left unanswered far more often, and no not just my questions.

I wish I had more technical information to share, I am always adding to my slim knowledge of all things guitar.

I was glad to have been a small part in the shirt deal and hope as we grow many more will get involved with it and show their support of this growing and maturing site Fender so kindly gave us.

Hi again, BB. Personally, I'm all for as many serious technical type threads as possible (though I'm glad the "which pickups" topics seem a little thinner on the ground at the moment).

I'm definitely guilty of goofing around too, but the way I'm seeing that is this. It's an internet forum, it's not real life. Nevertheless, it feels a little more like having a nice chat with the guys if we can be joking together one moment, talking solemnly about some arcane wiring issue the next. Just seems a bit more natural. But I totally agree, it's about finding the right balance and for sure it slips too far one way or another at times.

I made a weak joke right at the beginning of a thread by Stephen Sparks with the consequence that the whole thing got diverted into silliness for a while, for which I felt a rather blameworthy. Still, he soon got the right answer to his question - and later ticked me off for using a not very difficult word on the basis that someone somewhere might not know what it meant... So I got my comeuppance!

I must admit I don't often see sensible questions going unanswered: the few times it happens I guess simply nobody knew the answer. It doesn't seem to be common: there's some pretty clever people round here, after all!

I guess the solution is, keep posting on the sensible threads and pass by the ones about favorite TV shows.

Thanks once more for the T-shirt thing. And I have an idea you started something wider there, too. More to come, I bet. Great job.

All the best to you - C
