so my strat has had .13's on it for as long as I can remember, but recently I went back down to 10's. thing is now the high e string is choking out when I bend anywhere after the 12th fret. I would have thought this would have been more of a problem with the bigger strings ?

the rest of the neck/strings play great, how can I fix this without messing everything else up ? raise the saddle a smidge ?

You can try raising the saddle a smidge, and see if it fixes it, but you might ultimately have to release the truss rod a tad to compensate for the lighter string tension.

+1

As well, your trem claw may need a tweak too.

Bring it to a tech for a setup.

Uh...yea...going from 13's to 10's the guitar is going to need a good thorough setup to address all the issues listed...truss rod tension, bridge/claw adjustment, likely will need a new nut (unless you have a roller or something), etc.. Most of these adjustments really are not that difficult and there are some very good "how to" guides here on Fender.com but if you're not familiar with this stuff, it might be worth $50 or so to take it to a decent tech.

Seriously...with that much of a change in string gauge, the guitar needs a setup...period.

Peace,
Jim
