Please help me identify this strat, it was a gift from my dad and he did the relicing, and refinished the neck so now it's much darker than it was. It's from 2004.
Image

Neck pocket has a greenish 70 written
Image

On the neck it has green stamp 10DEC04 from what I can make out, but you cant see the 4 from the flash
Image

locking tuners were put in by my dad
Image

texas specials were added later, 2 point tremolo is stock i guess
Image
Image

and the neckplate says fender corona california
Image

I have no idea what model this could be from 2004 or maybe just the neck is from 2004, also i cant find the serial number but i think he removed it when refinishing the neck. Oh and the finish is very thick so i think its polyurithane.

Any help would be great!

Ok, but here's what puzzles me, on all the pictures I found, there is a different string T type, and also the little "contour body" decal is in a very strange place on mine, and don't the highway ones have nitro finished bodies?
I saw similar saddles on American standards but they were chrome, mine are matt.

Here's the back of the bridge if that helps any...

The large headstock was offered only on the Highway One HSS. SSS models from that period sported small headstocks with spaghetti-style logos.

I think this is a partscaster guitar: a 2004 HWY1 HSS neck attached into an antique burst Squier Standard body.

+1

The dinkyass trem block seems to indicate an entry-level import bridge.

I also looked at that Squier model pictures and the bridge looks the same, yes.

So would a fender 2 point bridge fit on these screws if I got one now to replace the squier one? I would guess it would help sustain right?

Otherwise the guitar plays and sounds great as you can hear here:

Also I would like to ask what's the point of taking one string T out? should I put one back?

Does yours have the exact same logo? Is there only a small patent number beneath the Fender logo?

And does it have the same neckplate?

No exactly , my 2004 Frontlines show "synchronized tremolo" between "Fender stratocaster " and "patent number" But Highway one

With some research , Highway One is the only guitar whichhave the same peg head with very very close logo to your guitar.

Regarding the string T, also call a string tree, they are used to maintain a downward angle on the strings so they do not pop out of the nut. Usually they are not used with locking tuners because the strings have a natural downward angle. If you check an American Deluxe with locking tuners they do not have them at all. If you are not having any problems with the string popping out of the nut I would leave it alone.

Tuners don't need to be locking tuner , just staggered tuner. This is also for more sustain , better sound from sting to guitar neck .

The body is from a squier standard and I'm pretty sure that isn't a highway one neck. It looks like it has a black plastic truss rod area, which would mean its some sort of import neck. A higway one would have a walnut plug there instead of black plastic. Also the String tree hole doesn't look correct for a highway one either.

'Zactly. And the 22nd fret means it isn't a MIM Classic '70s either. Which means it's a Squier (which came with the black plastic rod hole liner and big headstock at that time), and a fake decal.

Hello Mannus: I don't know my way around Squier bridges very well, but the block saddles do look like Squiers - they're definitely not US saddles of the period.

For a replacement don't worry so much about names as measurements. Measure from centre to centre of the two mounting studs and then search for one with the same measurement. From memory I think you'll probably find yours measures 52mm, whereas US ones measure 56mm. So they are not compatible. But there are 52 mil two-point bridges out there to be had and that's probably what you need.

Presuming you need to replace the bridge at all, that is. Do you?

Unless there's something actually malfunctioning I don't see the point of changing it. What you could do is swap out the block, which might make a bit of a difference. You will need to look very closely at the specs for screw spacing for attachment to the trem plate on replacement steel or brass blocks from the likes of www.callaham.com or www.guitarfetish.com , assuming you are in North America. Alternatively, east of the Atlantic I know of a gentleman who custom makes steel blocks to any specs you require, which can be handy for matching to bridges such as yours.

You could also swap out the saddles, if you have an itch for modding. Many options to choose from on the aftersales market.

Cheers - C
