tons of them where issued.

thay are O.K. I owned one, however the 50th amse is as close as you can get to true vintage strat tone right out of the box.

the gold hardware on the deluxe leaves most feeling kinda cold.

I could not get what I personally consider true strat tone from the stacked noiseless pups in the deluxe.

I was looking for something that would allow me to retire my '67 Tele that I've played since it was new. I shopped around a lot and zeroed in on the aforementioned beauty. I tried a lot of brands and a lot of pickup types including H/S strat combos of different varieties. The one that spoke to me was the 50Th anniversary American Deluxe. Lots of tone variety, quiet pickups even under fluorescent light, a nice silky smooth neck, and very nice fit and finish. So I bought one with 50th birthday money from family and friends (get the connection?) Things were going great when after about a year, we suffered a break-in and the guitar was stolen. Since it was insured, I could have spent the insurance money on anything I wanted but instead, paid a premium (since they were no longer in production) to get exactly the same instrument from a reseller on E-bay who had a brand new, in a box, unit. I've had this one now for over 18 months and love it more every day. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

They made as many needed to fill all orders for the entire calendar year! There is alot of both out there. Now the custom shop 50th anniversary is a rarer bird for sure!

Fender® Custom Shop 50th Anniversary 1954 Stratocaster® - Electric Guitar - 2-Color Sunburst, Maple Fretboard 015-1954-803 - In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Stratocaster®, the Fender Custom Shop has built a Limited Edition 1954 Strat®. These faithful reproductions feature the same exacting detail as the original instruments, using many of the same machines and manufacturing methods used 50 years ago.
