The ultimate question here is how long the tint will stay on, an if there will be any residue on our palms after doing this, in years to come?!?

That is true. Only time will truly tell. I would start with the shoe polish idea, and if a darker tint is needed try the dye. However, to each his own as the dye may react differently on different necks and types of clear coats. Making our strats our own seems to be the goal, so have fun and if you jack it up, the fine folks at the Fender Custom Shop will gladly make you your own custom for the small fee of a compact car! lol.

(Just kiddin in the custom shop! Only good things coming from the shop crew! ) :D

Please report back here in 5 years time so the rest of us can tint our necks if your tint is still on then.

I can report back on the shoe polish method as I did it years ago. It never came off in my hand, and the tint on both guitars was/is permanent (still the same shade as in the pics I posted). Just FYI in case anyone cares ...
:D

That's considered BLASPHEMY on here Jason. :D

BTW, yesterday I restored a treasured post on build threads (Build Thread Listing...Rebuilt!) and this one was included for posterity.
