Hi , I am looking to up grade the bridge pick up in my new mexican standard strat w/h S-S-S pu config. The original one (bridge)seems to sound a little thin and could be hotter sounding ,needs a volume boost.Im considering one of the split single size humbuckers online. I dont want to depart too far from the original tone(maybe!)What are other mexican standard owners using with success?

Personally I like to have all similar pickups because i'm a fan of the inbetween sounds (2 and 4 positions). If the pickups are two different you can loose a lot of that quack/cluck sound.

Have you tried simply moving the pickup closer to the strings to see if you can get more output?

I rarely use the bridge pickup on it's own, but it's crucial to have that sweet middle+bridge sound.

I think the hot rails is a classic choice for this position.
