In the 70s as a youth ANGEL was a big deal they were a glam rock band on the same label as KISS who sounded like a mixture of Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple with a touch of Bay City Rollers in there.
I would say as a youngster Punky Meadows imprinted Stratocasters in my head first same as Ace Frehley imprinted Les Pauls there.
None the less Punky was a teen guitar idol, they were featured in the movie Foxes with Jodie Foster and Cherie Currie of the Runaways another 70s band.

He didn't influence me to pick up the guitar but he did influence me to play a Strat:

Don't have a photo, but I would have to choose Buddy Holly for one,...and maybe Eric Clapton as a second artist!

Tommy Joe Ratliff.

He was basically the biggest influence for me to pick up the electric guitar. I'd mucked around on a friend's acoustic for a while before picking up an electric.
I guess Tommy's not strictly a strat player because he also plays jags and teles (and bass!). Either way, he sounds amazing no matter what he plays. :)

Eric Clapton got me to pick up a Strat, but SRV got me to play guitar period, so 2 great Strat players

It was really probably 'The Ventures' before they switched to Mosrites.

"The Ventures were a band formed in 1958 in Tacoma Washington. In 1958, the band, formed by Don Wilson & Bob Bogle two Masonry workers, has had an enduring impact on the development of music worldwide, having sold over 100 million records,

To date The Ventures are the best-selling instrumental band of all time. In 2008, 50 years after they were formed the Ventures were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.

Their music has been cited by many famed guitarists as an influence; indeed, their virtuosity, experimentation with guitar effects, and unique sound laid the groundwork for innumerable groups, earning them the moniker "The Band that Launched a Thousand Bands".
