I'm planning on repainting my '79 Strat white (which was its original color) and using black pup covers and white pickguard to match Richie Blackmore's Strat. It's different and interesting.

I was originally going to paint it Lake Placid Blue, but I feel that it wouldn't be "period correct."

That mirror-image picture of Hendrix is creepy.

I play it because it sounds great. I guess seeing that it's played by some of my heroes is interesting validation.

Ah Yes

Its more a fond memory of your heroes that inspired you to tell yourself you needed a strat too.
Im sure we all had heroes and its fun and interesting to compare each others. :)

Thank you so much for posting that, Arnold! God, I wish I could have been there to witness Dave and Rick singing that one more time (RIP Rick).

Aside from David and Jimi being the top 2 main influences for me digging the Strat, these two cats are also largely responsible for me being into Strats as well AND even more special that we all hail from the same area: Detroit, MI

Even though the players I listed made a very large impact on me, I'd say that what really got me into play a Strat was an '87 Strat Plus I purchased used at Music 6000, in Olympia, WA.

I was using a MIJ '62 Tele Custom in a classic rock band, and wanted something a bit warmer sounding.

I must have played 7 or 8 other guitars before the salesman handed me the guitar that started me the Strat road. There was something just so magical about that guitar. $600 and it was mine.

Of course I love all the standard Strat heroes, but the first influence for me was from the 70's:

And 2nd biggest came later in the 80's:
