The guitar was bought in 1999, and it came in the flight case with a quick release strap. I was working in a pawnshop at the time and although we weren't supposed to take instruments I took a view and lent £200 on it thinking the guy would be a fool not to pick it up for that. It was as new at the time, and when 6 months had come and gone the customer never came back so I bought it for £300 from my boss.

The serial is N6131400 and it has a sticker saying 50th anniversary 1946-1996. The guy who borrowed the money told me it was a special edition (which I believed since it has quick lock machine heads, bearings in the nut and Floyd Rose Tremelo system.)

The guitar now has one small nick in the paint on the back, a tiny bruise on the paint at the front but apart from that is perfect. I have had many years enjoyment playing it (despite the minor annoyance of not having 24 frets)

Anyway, could anyone tell me if they think it looks genuine and whether or not it is some sort of special edition. Also an idea of the value would be useful, money is tight and though I want to hang onto the guitar knowing its value is of interest.

Many thanks :)

What you have is a genuine Strat Plus Deluxe from 1996; it's a USA model. That trans white color was a standard finisgh for the Strat Plus Deluxe, as were the locking tuners, Fender/Floyd Rose bridge, and roller nut. That case was standard as well.

This one is not a special edition; every production-line Fender made during 1996 got that "50th Anniversary of Fender" medallion on the back of the headstock.

Value - I haven't priced Strat Plus Deluxes in a while; I did a quick search of sold items on ebay and they ranged from $750-$1,000 here in the USA.

Well its a little disappointing that it isn't a special edition... but I guess I still did OK with it for that price and if I keep it in nice condition maybe it will accumulate more value one day.

Thanks for the info :) it's still a nice guitar to play :)
