Why doesn't fender offer more finish options?
are "custom finishes" more expensive to produce?

I'm really happy fender is starting to introduce nitro on some of their guitars, but the finish options always seem so limited. sunburst, candy apple red, black, white....

today's music scene has evolved into indie musicians who in my opinion would like more bright expressive colors in their guitars.
There's also a new appreciation for everything vintage. i think re-introducing classic finishes like fiesta red, shell pink, seafoam green, turquoise, burgandy, etc. on standard stratocasters would be great for fender. a couple of matching headstocks would be cool too

I'm surprised fender hasn't produced a stratocaster finished in nitro in one of these classic colors, for a reasonable(not custom shop) price. i think they'd sell faster than fender can make them

Their on their way though, with more guitars in nitro. also quality on mexican and american guitars has improved a lot, and they've introduced great guitars at fair prices. hopefully new finishes are on the way, i'll start saving up!!!

is anyone with me? thoughts and opinions welcome

this has come up before, for some it seemed more options were wanted, for others not so much. I think it comes down to what sells and what doesn't.

Back in the late '80s and '90s, Fender offer a wider sellection of colors, but most people stuck with the regular suspects.

I agree. However I don't think a nitro American standard would sell that we'll as the cost would be significant.

I'd love to be at the helm for a month. I think the boys at the Fender paint dept. should get a little inconsistent with colour choice and be creative with their job. Perhaps their supervisor should go on holiday for a while. Do some highly desirable rare colours for a month and swap them out each month for 12 months, like they did with the 1994 American standard. Or keep them rotating, on top of the regular line. Ask them to be a little creative and come up with something for management..

Stop with the FSR unless its a very different run like custom choice pickups or bridge choices and let's get busy with colour changes! Lets keep the punters guessing.

Nothing like really kicking monotony to the curb. No-one likes repetition eh?

Maybe I should work at Fender. Compulsory drinks on Fridays, random colour idea for the month run, I'll let a lucky staff member off early on Fridays if they exceed their quota.. Company shouts everyone pizza of healthy choices for friday lunches..It would be an interesting place to work!! :D so how about it Fender? :)
