I got my '57 AVRI Reissue on consignment about 10 years ago. I sold my '77 Strat to get it and never looked back.

It had DiMarzio Vintage Noiseless pups in there and I was really into them for awhile. Very nice to lose that hum. But some folks at this forum convinced me to pop the original '57/'62 pups (which had come in the case) back in there, so I gave it a shot. They sound fantastic. I even stuck with that "thin" sounding bridge pickup and am getting the hang of it. It's very cool.

Much as I love the improved crisp edge, though: these pups are noisy. I know it shouldn't bother me...but sometimes it does.

I'm checking out a noiseless system by this company called Ilitch. Suhr uses his backplate set up. There's also a pickguard assembly.

My main objective is to get rid of the hum, but I don't want to compromise on the sound of the pickups at all. I'll live with the noise if that's the case.

I'm wondering if any of you have used or are using this system? Waddya think?

The BSSC doesn't work with RPWP pickups.
