Fender American Deluxe Strat locking tuners rule!
Fender hit a Homerun with these tuners. Amazingly easy change, Sharp looks, and hold tune for days on end! Huge thanks, Fender!

Hi all....

Just wondering if anyone knows if the locking tuners will fit my Tele....

I have a Classic 50's with the vintage style on but I fancy giving the locking one's a whirl!!!!

Im gonna guess that the main factor here is gonna be if the machines fit the holes through the headstock..... ( I know that there seem to be two sizes.... but with my luck!!!! ).

I havnt removed the tuners yet so I havnt measured, and I cant find any spec. on the hole dimensions to make sure they'll fit. Im aware that I can get other retainers for the holes but I'd really only be interested if its a direct swap(maybe!)...

Anyone know if it would be a direct replacement for a Mexican Classic 50's Tele?....

Thanks again!!!...

Not sure about the fit, shoot a direct email to the tech guys, and they can spec if for ya. If they work, you wont be disappointed. I play live twice a week, and I am blown away every time how amazing these tuners hold their tune, and so easy to change strings its ridiculous! Love them!!! :P

The original Schaller or the newer F type locking tuners are a direct replacement for the american std tuners.
They will not fit easily as a replacement for vintage style tuners without some modification.
I would not recommend it though anything is possible. :D

Thanks for the replies....

and yea, there seem to be many guys trading 'up' to them... I keep hearing good things....

The 'fit' issue is a problem I have dealt with before on another instrument but because that guitar had the larger holes, I could just fit in different 'retainers' and hey presto....
....but it's obviously more difficult to make the holes larger than it is to make them smaller.
And I think I remember from somewhere that the 'vintage' style are the smaller....

If this is the case I think ill take your advise JJ.....

I have a Fender Strat Select with locking tuners and I'm having trouble getting the guitar tuned after I swapped strings

Are you certain the strings have been stretched properly?...

(if not they'll settle down in a day or so....)

Paolo 101 had it right! Check the intonation...If you are struggling after that, get it to a guitar shop or someone with deeper skills with the overall rig. I have 2 deluxes with these tuners. Both stay in tune longer than any guitars I won, and I won a lot. Hope it works out. Upload some pics also, if able of your Guitar with the shot from the headstock down the neck to the bridge, etc...

If the neck i warped, intonation out, can be many things....
