Like the title says.

I have a Squier Affinity Strat I'm looking to customize. All the wood bits are quite nice, the fit and finish is well done, and I love the color. (metallic blue) However, the pickups are rubbish.

I have settled on an hss configuration, with a mini toggle to split the bridge coils, and a push/push knob to give me the neck and bridge at the same time. (or most likely, vice versa) I already have a luthier to do the work.

I'd like it to still sound Stratty, and do not want to add any active circuits. I primarily like to play classic rock, southern rock, blues and country.

So, what's out there to do this? I'm kinda wavering between Fat 50's. Lace Sensors, or ? for the singles. I have no idea what humbucker to get... I have a new Blacktop Strat with vintage Alnico buckers and I love em. If possible, I'd like to get a p/u with the chrome cover on it.

Also, any idea where to get a 13 hole hss pickguard? I'm only interested in white/ cream or the pearly/sparkly ones. I tried looking on here, but they had no 13 holers I could find.

Thanks all!

You should look into Wilde Bill Lawrence's pickups for your neck and middle positions. Many people think that his Keystones are the best single coils you can get. And they are less than half the price of other boutique pickups ($84 for a set of three!) I'm seriously considering his T-set Keystones for my RW Tele. He also makes noiseless pups. I have them in my Strat and they sound fantastic. Very close to pure single coil sound and completely noise free. Also reasonably priced.

As an update, I had a go at this guitar today, and apparently, I'm blind... The pickguard is the standard 11 hole model.

Also, for some reason when I plugged in to my Musty III today, the pickups sounded pretty good... Perhaps it;s just the Vox amplug I normally use this guitar with that sounds like butt.

Still want to convert it to an Hss.
