i bought a "fender" classic 50's strat, but it appears to be a squier with a fender neck on it, i cant find that they ever made the fender vibe series in white w/ copper pickguard, any help would be appreciated. theres also finish cracks surrounding the neck plate, which doesnt say fender on it

Does it look like this?

If so, then yes it's a CV 50s Strat model - it also comes in Fiesta Red. Don't know about the cracks, that sounds bad, as these guitars are noted for their build quality. However a few off ones still slip through wherever humans are involved in the assembly process. As for the nameless backplate, that's common - even on MIM Fenders.

Hi EthanA: either someone switched the neck, or they swapped in a fake decal.

Show us the front and back of the headstock and maybe we can help more.

Cheers - C

im at work for the next few hours but it seems like quality screenprinting on the headstock. i paid 500 for it, from what i can tell the saddles and neck have been upgraded to fender parts, did i pay too much? it came from a reputable fender dealrr down here in florida

Hi again EthanA: I'm rereading your posts. Did you buy this guitar as new, or pre-owned? Your first post mentions both Classic '50s and Vibe series, but those are two different things. What were you actually told it was when you bought it?

Are we sure it's meant to be a Classic '50s? Perhaps it's simply a MIM Standard Strat in White on which a previous owner swapped in the copper-look pickguard? Or perhaps it is bone stock and came that way from the factory as an FSR?

Too many possibilities: again, some photos would really help get this further.

Cheers - C

ill get some pictures when i get home, i guess its a classic 50's, i thought classic vibe was a series, but the serial number comes up as 03-04, could they have maybe done a limited run in this color scheme?

Maybe. But again, why are you sure it's a Classic '50s? Might just as well be a MIM Standard?

A photo of the trussrod hole will help us on that...

Well, that's consistent.

Was it new or used?

Right. Cos if the serial number says 2003/4 then if it's new it's been sitting in the shop for a lo-o-o-o-ong time, huh?

I kinda feel we're still missing some info here, but I guess that's as far as we can go till we see photos.

Later - C

I have doubts about the marks on the handle that does not correspond with a classic MIM and the string-T incorrectly positioned.
I have a 50s classic OL 2003 and the handle color is amber.
Another thing, the serial No. is located at the back of the head on mine.
I suggest partcaster.
