Really when you think about it all a pickup really is is a coil and magnets, so yeah they play the major part in the sound.

Pickup Makers like Seymour Duncan Bill Lawrence and Larry Dimarzio go on with these big tech talks trying to baffel the public with BS. They make you think its a big science and they cracked the code.

They used to tell us in the Army to do the same thing during inspections.
They would say the officer inspecting you has no clue what your talking about so when he asks just baffel him with BS, he will buy whatever your selling.

Well I think the Sustain is kind of tough to measure.

I run the same pickup in all my strats an Aged White Fender Hot Rod 16 Ohm Alnico 5 (Atomic in Black) I only take the weaker ones that have true readings of 15 Ohm or less 13 Ohm in my Deluxe.

You mean 16 K Ohms ( 16,000 ohms ) not 16 ohms. And 15 K ohms , 13K ohms.

This reading is a matter of number of turn AND size of the wire . Pickup tone is more than a ohms reading and magnets.

Yeah the K is a given sorry figured everyone just knew that.

No, the "K" is not a given when dealing with electronics.

Clearly you shouldn't be if you are unwilling/unable to use proper terminology.

I don't know your skill and experience . Too many people on the forum take wrong reading and make so much mistake . And sometimes it takes so many pages of explanation before the found their mistake.

OK well let me tell you about my level then. There are quite a few people in Kansas City as well as USA that play my builds thanks to ebay.
I am the real time mechanic that fixes peoples strats les pauls jacksons and whatever else they drag in.
Oh by the way I charge more if they tried to fix it first.

I have a BSEE. I design, build, and repair tube amps. I use proper terminology to avoid confusing people who don't understand electronics. Maybe you should stick to just relaxing under your shade tree instead of incorrectly trying to explain technical issues. Have a nice day.

Focusing on if I didnt use a K is kinda petty here.
I was just on vacation enjoying talking bout my favorite thing.

The info I posted about the humbuckers was completley valid and came from research and time spent emailing and calling Fender about thier Humbuckers.

During the course of installing them on various strats I noticed some things and spent time discussing it with Rob on this board through PM and calling them

Fact - Fender only makes 5 Humbucker models currently and changes the names

Neck
Standard
Hot Rod
Enforcer
Wide Range

Thats it they give them cute names like Sidewinders Diamond Back Atomics but they only make 5

So when you talk to someone about making a new bridge or milling some part and you tell them the size will be "50", you just assume they know you are talking microns/millimeters/inches/feet or whatever? Or you replace a pot, do you tell them 25K? 25M? Or just "25"? Or do you once again "assume" something? Good luck with that. I'm done wasting my time with you.
