This is my first Stratocaster and Fender branded guitar. Solid build, a beautiful finish and cool modern tones. Totally dig it.

Hay Merc,

Happy NGD. :D

I dig that color. I have a Prodigy with maple fretboard and
color close to that. Fender made the Prodigy 91 and 92. I
also have a 2001 MIM Strat. But it's sunburst.

Thanks, mate! They sound like fine-looking guitars. Never thought I'd like Strats so much. But now I'm hooked, maybe it's the build quality of this MIM?

Great Strat Merc. I have one like that with the rosewood fingerboard. Really nice tones.

Thanks! Love rosewood fretboards - very distinguished. Next year I have my eye on getting something like this;

Nice guitar! I say that as I just picked up the same exact MIM guitar in the candy apple red myself just three weeks ago. My first electric and second overall (first is an acoustic Fender purchased in Nov. 2012).

Cool. How do you like it so far? Mine seems to be having a few tuning stability issues - definitely some friction at the nut and/or string-tree, as there is pinging. Haven't even dared use the tremolo properly yet - throws it completely out. Might need a further set-up from the store, which they are more than happy to do - for an entire year. I'll see how it settles in first though, as it was literally brand new out of the box when I tried it out on the day.

Here's a back view;

Beautiful guitar! and a great instrument for the money!! I just got one a few weeks ago myself. Went with black body, white pick guard, maple neck and SSS. Had a set up done on it for good measure after a few days of playing it. Only thing I changed was I had the bridge flushed, instead of floating. I was craving something different to play because I've been learning on a Les Paul. I find my Strat becoming the "go-to" guitar right now... Good luck with it!!!!

I know that feeling. My LP hardly gets played. I spend all my time with my Jags and Strats. One MIM, the other an American Special. Seems the LP is going to be in the back seat for a long time...

Cool stuff, I've got an LP Jr clone which I still sometimes like to play because of the enormous P-90 sound of it. But yeah, it's pretty much Fender all the way now.

Clearly in need of a setup. First aid to that pinging is a dab of lip balm applied with a toothpick in the nut grooves, string tree and saddles. The tremolo springs probably need to be adjusted, too - choose either floating or decked (the latter is easier).
And: if you have that one-year-setup-warranty, use it & lurk behind the luthier's shoulders so you see & learn what to do.

PS: CAR with maple, small headstock - one of my favorite Strat combinations.
