The trem arm on my new Strat slides into the bridge hole, but doesn't click into place or anything. Is it supposed to? I'm new to Strats. This style of arm has a tapered end for about a 1/4" and then a groove, like a cam lock fitting if that makes sense. It doesn't have threads like other style arms.

I read about the springs that go into the hole. I need those to keep the arm from turning.

It looks like this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-FENDER-AMERICAN-DELUXE-STRATOCASTER-TREMOLO-TREM-TREMELO-ARM-BAR-GUITAR-PART-/380622096966?pt=Guitar_Accessories&hash=item589ed84a46

Thanks.

I have the same . You have to push very hard to clip There is a Allen screw ( hex ) at the tremolo block under the guitar to adjust that.

And very difficult to remove too . Hold the bridge with your hand and pull . If you don't hold the bridge you can break a string

Spring you talk is for "vintage" type screw tremolo arm . Not for your .

I always use a drop or two of household oil on it and yeah what stratele52 said.
Sometimes you have to adjust that allenset screw in the block.

We are talking about the metal parts here and even fender recomends a drop of oil the trem bar is metal and the bridge and block are metal.
Metal on metal can always improve with lubrication.

Many times one single drop of 3 in 1 houshold oil on a trem bar has solved problems for Deluxe pop in trem arms being sticky they should pop in easily and remove easy and turn smooth not loose.
if the one drop of oil does not make this happen then adjustment is needed.

Anybody who use oil know that you put a small drop here and two days , weeks ...after you have oil all around.

And first of all you don't need oil to fix guitar tremolo problem or any other.
