The American Deluxe has the tuners changed to non-locking types.

The 1989 has Sprezel Locking tuners for starts I introduced a Fender 15 ohm HoT Rod that was the Classic Floyd Rose Strat Pickup into it only to find that 89 American Standard single coils were wired reverse and the Humbuckers were out of phase with them.
Also I removed the TBX I didnt see a use for it. The tone cap was not the same as today either it was very toney
I used all 250k pots replaced the tone cap with a current standard one.
I also use the bridge single in the Neck it just sounded a bit better than the neck pickup did.
The bridge is stock I replaced a couple of springs but a lttle grease it actually stays in tune great.
Thats about it its probably the guitar I play the most out of my Strats and Les Pauls

The 2008 American Deluxe is a monster and Heavily Heavily Modified.

For starts I wanted to be able to pull up harmonix like Dimebag Darrel and to get worbles like Brad Gillis or Steve Via.
I paid a lot of money and went through a lot of head aches to get this thing working proper.
In the end all I can really say is I learned alot next time it will be easier to do it.

It is wired American standard now with all vintage cloth wire I used a 250k volume and 2 500k tone pots with modern standard caps
The Singles are Hot Alnico III from a Highway 1 model and I love them the Humbucker is also a Highway 1 Atomic that ohmed out to 14 ohm bvecause I tried a 16.5 ohm one and it was just a bit to fuzzy sounding.
The tremolo is of course an Original Floyd Rose and the pickguard is a silver/grey pearl from Warmoth but always photographs blue I dont know why.

Hey brotha how are you?

Well after I talked to you I looked all across ebay and noticed a lot of the 89-90 models were spliting and cracking.
I did want another 89 but understood your desire to keep your matching set.
I told you I did find that 2005 body for cheap from a guy, so I just used it I still got the original 89 body and there is a guy in town that works on vintage stuff. He says he can fix it and refinish it even relic it so I may do that but this 05 beater is working for now its really just a working mans axe not a collectors item so I dont know what I plan on in the future.

Got to really put the 89 Standard through the motions last night tried the Neck position and Middle position out some and I am real happy.
Changing the tone cap to a Modern really cleared up the pickups.
Im not sure what they ran in 1989 but it was kinda muddy, I just tossed it didnt even look.
The 89 pickups sure sounded smokin and sweet almost like a Texas Special but had thier own flair.
That 89 neck feels just great wore in like that. Its the one thing I dont think the Custom Shop could do for you, you gotta play it to get it feeling like that.
