All five positions are good for different tones. It's important, that tone-control can change all sound so much! Stratocaster has a lot of possibilities ;)

Absolutely and I've always been a bridge pickup mn on any guitar, but the neck pickup is just so "Stratty", especially on my CS that I find myself using that all the time unless I'm really rocking out! ;)

Earlier in this thread I stated that I don't have a favorite pickup position and that I use all five depending on the tone required. True, but I neglected to consider the five other tones with the S1 switch on my American Deluxe.

I would like to say that I use all ten tonal possibilities but I have yet to find any practical application for the sound we get on position 5 (neck) with the S1 engaged: Neck Pickup OUT OF PHASE & PARALLEL, Middle, Bridge Pickup IN SERIES. I'm not really sure what this means, but it sounds ... ah, not too good. A little bit like playing through a tin can from 40 yards away.

Any love for this S1 pickup position?

    Cheers!
    BM

Position 5 in S-1 is great for the Beverly hillbillies banjo part on the intro, or you can go there when you want to make your band laugh during one of those serious moments that needs comic relief!
