For me, it's 2nd position when I'm ROCKIN rythm and 4 when I'm soloing. I just can't enough of the 4th position. I call it my ALONE time....

I use all 5 positions for different tones and I don't think I have a favourite.

I'm of the opinion that you need to get everything you can out of a Strat. That means all switch positions, hitting the strings near the bridge, the middle pickup, the neck pickup, and on the neck itself, also, turn those tone and volume knobs often. That is my favorite position.

I use all singles and bridge/neck combo regularly. I never use neck/middle combo and use middle/bridge combo once in a while.

My first sentence is obviously for wide range versatility. My second sentence is due to the fact that the neck/middle combo is a bassy redundancy to the middle/bridge combo. I avoid the middle/bridge combo because to me, it is now tonally a bit cliche. The only time I use it is when it is blatantly obvious that the cover tune I"m playing has a Strat selected to that setting.

I use all five but the neck pickup is my favorite for the warm tone. I used to play mostly Blues and Blues Rock and it sounded best without pedals.

I use Fender Hot Rod/DH1/Atomics in the bridge so Bridge mostly but I do like to throw it up into Neck during a solo or for clean stuff.

I can't say I have a favorite pickup position. I use all five depending on the tone that is required.

Cheers!

Over the last 5 or 6 years I have been using 4 a lot and up until a couple of months ago I had my Strat wired with a push/pull so I could use the neck and bridge together, that was one of my favorites.

I gave up the push/pull in order to add the Clapton mid boost circuit and am now thinking I need a Tele for those country licks........Yes it is an addiction

I use the neck pickup for blues, and the fourth position for pretty much everything else.

Question for you guys. I am a little undersold on the n3 bridge pup in my Am Deluxe? I want a humbucker like crunch from that position for ROCKIN rythm. Seymour Duncan single coil sized humbucker maybe? Your thoughts?

No single favorite for me, but the middle is probably the one you'd have to pry from my cold, dead, fingers.

Another favorite of mine is combining the bridge and neck pickups using a blender pot. Set it on the neck pickup and blend in as much of the bridge pickup as I want/need to give it some more bite. Go, blender pot!

We're talking the "Swiss army knife" of guitars, and unlike the actual Swiss army knife, all it's options are totally useful.
