Hello everyone,

I'm a beginner guitarist, so I'm quite new to everything. I just bought a Strat back in January. When I tried it out at the shop, it was working perfectly. I was sort of excited so I started tapping the strings violently with my fingers. xD lol... I was sort of trying to imitate an epic solo. xP But anyways, when I took my Strat home and hooked it up to my Fender Mustang amp, the strings wouldn't make a sound when I touched them. The volume was up on the amp and the guitar, and I made sure everything was on the right setting.
It plays chords, but it won't do what it did at the shop. I have no idea what's wrong with it and I need some help.

Thank you!

~Abigail

Hi Abigail .....
To be clear....
You mean it doesn't sound the same as in the shop?...

It sounds to me like you had some kind of killer distortion going in the store and were able to play....using a 'tapping' method.... sorta like Eddie Van Halen?.....

But its cool in all other ways?....
I.e. It does work, but you would like to have a similar sound to that which you had in the shop....

My advice....
Give the shop a call, and ask them what effect/distortion did you use to demo the guitar with as you really enjoyed it... Most stores have a demo 'rig' that they use, so the assistant would/should be able to tell you what he/she set up for you...
Or.
TBH....All you really need to do to get that kinda thing is a heavily distorted amp....
You should be able to get the same effect by using ALOT of 'gain'...(turn your Gain knob up on your amp).

So, I just looked up the Fender Mustang amp....
Use the setting 'Metal 2000'...(use a fair bit of gain!)
Add reverb/delay to your taste and tap tap tap tap away..... :D

That should get ya in the ball park....then just adjust the setings untill your feeling what we lovingly refer to in here as Mojo!

Have Fun!....
P.

ps. Welcome to the the good ship Fender.
