...the more I am convinced it is the most versatile guitar - that I own anyway. I love all of the sounds I get out of it.

Nice Strat there mate :)

I have to say my opinion is that when Fender put an end to the Strat Plus/plus deluxe/ultra line years ago, they also put to an end a golden era for models that were a notch above the American Standard.

Personally, I don't think they have come close since with newer deluxe models. One model I wouldn't mind owning is a blue burst plus deluxe with a mini Floyd. However I suspect it is going to be very much the same as my Ultra...

Thanks. I had put it away for a while since I got another to play with. When I recently got it back out I was blown away.

I am with you! I love my Plus player. It is this 1991 Plus with Ultra wiring. I have always liked Vintage White with a maple neck. :D

Fender should add Mystic Black in their American Standard line to compliment Mystic Red and Mystic Blue.

...Ill expand. Fender should resurrect and update the Plus line. Reintroduce sensors also. Sounds a bit silly, I know. But I identify the Plus/Plus Deluxe/Ultra line to be a flashy upgraded line rather than the current line up. Fender are currently putting customshop pickups in the American standard line, yet standard type N3 on American Deluxe. I don't get it. :?

One has to ask however, was the American Deluxe intended to be on the same par with the Strat Plus, or the Plus Deluxe?

@ Xhefri:

That reminds me of an '83 Elite that I had. It had aged to a nice banana pudding color. That's a classic look.

@ Chromeface:

You have a good eye. It is a Mystic Black. I have never been able to capture the metal flake in a photo - but I also am no expert!

Me's thinking we are starting another Fans of Strat Plus and Strat Ultra thread!

http://forums.fender.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=26284

WOW that thread now has some 108,562 visits! That says something, doesn't it?

The answer? YES. In fact in 1998 Fender released some of the new Deluxe American Strats and even called some of them "PLUS". They did the same thing with some Teles too. Look at the Tele below. I bought this almost new from the orginal owner, so it had all the paperwork, case candy, etc. The tag from Fender said it was a Tele Plus Deluxe!!! The paper work stated: 1999 Fender American Limited Edition Telecaster Custom Deluxe Plus. The neck pickup is a special gold plated DeArmond Humbucker and the bridge pickup is a Fender Noiseless Tele Pickup. Odd eh?

Then these Deluxe American Strats had a lot of the features of a Plus, and some in 98 were called Plus' but that name quickly disappeared! The one below was an early 2000 model.

Over the years a lot of musicians have hot-rodded their Pluses, Ultras and American Deluxes with the Clapton circuit.

Artists such as Richie Sambora, Dan Huff and Michael Landau found the mid boost particularly useful with full-sized humbuckers.

This was a very popular mod and Fender responded with the Richie Sambora signature series and the Deluxe Players TBX Boost HSS Strat which combined the Clapton electronics with a hot humbucker in the bridge for scorching metal leads.
