Hello, :D

I own an American Special Stratocaster.

Please, I would like to ask what product I should use to clean the bridge of this guitar?

Yours sincerely,

Jean

Are you just thinking about dust bunnies?
Or do you have some serious grime crudding up your bridge?

The bridge is like new.
So I am thinking about dust.
Nevertheless, I would like to avoid grime and rust on it in the future.

I just use a brand new chipping type paint brush and hold a vacuum cleaner over it while I'm doing it. I've never had to do it for my own but on a few that I've done work on have had to be cleaned that way. I never spray or wipe anything on the bridge though, don't think it's needed.

I have used Canned Air for years to blow out the dust, pick debris, etc and it works great. Use it anywhere that is difficult to just wipe down.

If it's really bad I would just do a tear down and clean it up. Be sure to take accurate measurements so it will go back where it was as far as intonation and saddle height are concerned.

Be careful doing this - canned air is what Fender custom shop uses to freeze paint finishes so that is crazes up. In other words... hold the can the right way up!

I just use a toothbrush and lemon oil and I clean the bridge when I scrub the frets. That has kept all of my bridges looking as new as possible. Been using it for over 20 years and hasn't failed me.

WD40 and a toothbrush if it's rusty, after you have taken the bridge off the guitar. If it's just very dirty mask it off with blue tape and use a paintbrush with a touch of naphtha. Take you time and do it several times. Then wipe clean. Either way, you probably won't have to take the saddles off and make setting intonation easy when you restring.
