So, I've had my Shoreline Gold CP '50s for about 5 years and I always wished they were available in Candy Apple Red. So... when Fender announced the Sale-ebration, I decided to pick up a Blacktop Strat in CAR to start a new project. So, the idea is to use the BT Strat CAR body with the CP 50's maple neck, and transfer all the electrical stuff from my CP '50s to the BT body. I'm waiting for an anodized gold pickguard to be delivered so I can do the transfer. Basically, it'll be a CP '50s in CAR, gold pg, with a vintage style tremolo instead of a 2 pt tremolo..

So, what to do with the shoreline gold CP 50s body?.. Well, I'm gonna put the BT Strat rosewood, 22 fret neck on it. Pickups will be SD SSL-2 (neck), SSL-6 (mid), and SSL-3 (bridge). They will be donated by my Orange Sunfire MIM Strat.. Locking tuners will also move from the Orange Sunfire Strat to the Shoreline Gold Strat. So, that'll give me a Strat with great pickups, locking tuners, and a 22-fret neck -- kind of a budget version of an Am Std specs-wise.

Not sure yet what I'll do with the Sunfire Orange Strat...

Anyway, here are the three Strats "before"... "after" pictures to be supplied when the transfers are done.. Thoughts and opinions are welcomed..

So, here's the results.. (maybe more pictures later)...

First is what I call my Candy Apple Red Classic Players '50s (even though it now has a 6 screw trem instead of the 2 pt). It has the BT Strat body and the neck & electrical parts from my CP 50s. I added an anodized gold pickguard.

And, here's the Shoreline Gold CP 50s body, now with the BT Strat 22-fret, rosewood neck, plus locking tuners. Pickups are Duncan SSL-2 (neck), SSL-6 (mid), and SSL-3 (bridge).

Fantastic!

I think you definitely made an improvement on both Strats. I must admit that I am a fan of red Strats with a rosewood fretboard (i have a 2001 American Deluxe with a Crimson transparent body) but the shoreline gold Strat looks great with the rosewood. The gold pickguard on the CAR Strat also finished it all beautifully.

Nice work my friend. :)
