There's one and unique type of midrange boost and it's the MDX circuit itself.

Thanks for that detailed response Chromeface! But let me clarify my confusion concerning the lower knob (MDX?). My center knob, the TBX, has a definite detente at 5 and works just as you and the owners manual describe.
The lower knob doesn't have a solid detente, though there is more resistance right about 5 when turning the knob.
The owners manual, which isn't written specifically for the Clapton Strat, lists three possible options for this knob: 1. Midrange Boost / Cut 2. Bass Boost / Cut 3. Midrange Boost. It doen't mention MDX at all.
It seems to work like a Midrange Boost / Cut, even though I don't feel a solid detente. Maybe Fender just decided not to use the MDX name for some reason in the manual?
So that's what I'm still not sure about, what exactly is the lower pot on my guitar?

Hi Drew, don't worry about the Mid Boost not having a detente - it shouldn't have one.
Nice guitar

Having seen the latest CGF videos on Youtube, Daphne Blue was definitely abandoned in favor of his long-time favorite Blackie, with EC Grey serving as a backup.

Hi,

I've seen a lot of the CGF2013 videos but on all of them he's using the Grigio. When was he using a Black Strat?

Cheers.

PS - Thanks for the Gin House vid - had missed that one! Brilliant!

If you clearly watch some of the CGF videos you'll notice that EC Grey has the orange strap Eric used originally for the Daphne.

The Blackie I'm talking about was first seen on the Irish/British tours in 2009. Eric finally decided to bring this guitar as a replacement for the baby blue Strat since he no longer plays it as of late 2011.

Nice guitar

Roger that, Drew. You're getting tied up in terminology unncessarily. The guitar's circuitry contains a small printed circuit board located in the body just back of the lower horn and the effect, powered by a 9 volt battery, is controlled by the lowest most of the three controls. Its technical description is MDX as explained in Chromeface's post and is referred to simply as a midboost, midrange boost, or pre-amp, in general conversation. The level of the effect increases as the control is rotated clockwise from 0>10. If you want to see exactly how the body is routed for that circuit board you can go into Ebay and search Eric Clapton Guitar body for a photo.

FYI:
My '10 Clapton weighs almost 1# less than my '10 Am Dlx HSS. 7#10oz. vrs 8#8oz.
The fret wires on the Clapton are .088" x .032". The Am Dlx are .104" x .044". So the Clapton's are narrow and short.
The neck profile of the Clapton is shallower at the 1st fret (.817") but deeper at the 12th fret (.921"). the Am Dlx is 1st fret .830", 12th fret .870".
In case anyone was wondering. :)

Well Lenny, I'm gathering that by your post, join date and post count, that you're a man of few words, so I'm honored you like my new Strat enough to tell me. Thanks. It is a fine piece of wood.

Keep in mind that's almost unnecessary to rout a regular Strat body for the Elite PCB.

A good alternative solution is to drop the Elite PCB beneath the control cavity under the pickguard.

In the products section you will find descriptions/specifications for these guitars enabling you to compare and contrast them. The Clapton has vintage fret wire and a 9.5 radius. It's neck profile/neck carve is unique to the line...a sleek 'soft' v-shape unlike any other [and my favorite of the lot BTW], designed, at Eric's direction, with a nod to the well worn neck of the old Blackie. The new AmDlx has a compound radius fret board starting at 9.5>12.0 up high. If your guitar has N3 pickups, I believe that neck applies as well. Chromeface, in his usual, customary, efficient, and timely fashion, has supplied you with a photo of the body routing for the Clapton.
