Well, I'm pleased as punch to be bringing you todays NGD. I actually didn't think this one would ever happen. I got a hankering for a Clapton Strat in Daphne Blue after seeing him in concert about 1 1/2 years ago. I looked on ebay for a year and didn't see one. I did a google search and found one for sale about 20 pages back. I called and it was sold the day before.
Last week someone put up a for sale thread here on the forum for one. I got lucky that I was one of the first ones to view it, since it was taken down after about an hour. I called, the guy sounded like a trustworthy person and his price was reasonable. Instead of chiseling him down, I agreed to pay him $50 more than he was asking, if he would box it well, include what ever case candy he had and buy insurance.
It came today. The box was more like cardboard pieces held together with tape. There's no strap, cord or picks with it. But the guitar is beautiful and I got the COA. I'm at work so I haven't plugged it in. But here she is:

Congrats on the new guitar, she is a beauty. Although my EC Strat is not a CS, it is my desert island can have only one guitar selection.

I am wondering one thing though...what the hell are you doing at work, as soon as this came in you should have started to cough, cough, cough, and need to head home EARLY :!: :!:

Thanks guys,
Tbazzone; I like the look with the ash tray on and I kind of like playing it with it on. I think I'm going to leave it on for the time being.
Tiger J; I paid less than I was expecting. Since I'm now an owner, I don't want to lower the value of my own guitar, so I'm going to pass on discussing the price.
T2Stratman; I've learned to be patient in my old age. I'll get plenty of time this weekend to plug it in. I will probably need some schooling on how the TBX and no load tone works. I can feel a detent in the tone control (center knob), I don't feel any in the TBX (lower knob). I think I have the positions right.

I don't use the tax much I keep mine in the detent. The boost is great once you figure out what you want to do with it. Soloing is a no brainier but using it for rhythm is interesting. I enjoy it a lot.

Clapton stopped using the Daphne since December 2011.

Drew: On the Clapton: Volume is the top, TBX the middle[you should feel the detente at the 5 position on the dial], MDX is the bottom.

I wonder for which reason the TB EC Customs do have the TBX since Eric no longer uses it :?:

BEAR IN MIND: The boost circuit is activated when the cord is inserted. Always remove the cord to conserve battery life when the guitar is not in use. I also remove the batteries from my gear when I know that they may not be in use for a time. Battery leakage could be a bit expensive in that guitar. Where the Clapton is concerned, it's one of two reasons why a 'battery box design' for the trem cavity cover would have been preferable to the rout in the trem cavity and the conventional screw retained plate. Replacement/removal of the battery would have been facilitated.

Also..go into the Custom Shop website and see for what provisions of the Custom Care program your guitar is eligible. As a second owner, there will be certain exclusions.

I would suggest that, at the Custom Shop level, this guitar still satisfies the requirements of a Mike Eldred 'snapshot' version. If you want the 'as built for the artist' [tone pot and tuners] you've got to go the time and and the coin for a Todd Krause. At the current rate, that's another $3K MSRP at least.

Personally I prefer having an active/passive toggle on that guitar.

But since Clapton said he would play active anytime I understand the reasons for which the switch has been deleted from the final release.
