I use V-Picks www.v-picks.com I like the fact that they stick to your fingers when they get warm. They also have a tonal quality that I like.

I use Dunlop Jazz III picks when I play electric guitar and Dunlop 0.73mm Tortex picks for acoustic guitar.

I play with picks made from 1964 and earlier silver quarters (after '64 quarters weren't made of silver anymore).

1) I have a pretty heavy pick attack and so a stff pick is needed
2) The silver imparts a unique quality to the tone
3) the silver warms up nicely and doesn't get slippery when you sweat
4) They look pretty cool too

Chet, I have to agree so far the best I've tried, but I'm not that experienced!! :)
When I first saw the topic I thought he was talking about that guitar set-up machine! :o

for metal i use brass picks (the impart loads of percussive attack)
for country, blues/jazz or any rhythm dominated style i use my fingers.
Ive looked into the Vpicks, they do look very good, when they become available in uk stores i will try em out. Fhopkins and Chet certainly know their onions and they recommend em.

Mostly I use Fender Mediums (I forget the shape number, 451?, it's the classic regular size), but I have been buying and trying out other brands and materials.

It doesn't matter so much to me, as long as they are big enough and not too thin.

I use a big block of bree. Quite messy, but the tone is nice and cheesy.

I thought Shredders used the fingernails of their last victim?
I may have misinterepted the genre? (LOL)

Hey,
I play a strat with 10s on it and use std Fender Heavy picks most of the time. I try to keep a bunch of these around. I'm good at 'losing' picks so I have Tazmanian Devil Coffee mug for the kids to toss them in when they find them.

If I'm playing some STANKY blues and want a particular edge, I'll use one of those MOJO picks. These are fashioned out of solid silver quarters. Interesting tonal properties and once that silver warms up they wont slip/rotate bwtween your sweaty fingers. These picks leave all the action to your fingers because silver wont flex. Great for folks that like me that play more with their hands than with effects. Can't beat them for Jazz. What you get is nice note articulation no matter how hard you spank even on the low E string. Tone without that 'PhPLAP or THUUPP' sound you hear from the std plastic picks.

More than excellent for Acoustic guitar playing as well.
