So I've been looking for a fairly cheap strat to play around with... and I was looking around on eBay... and ended up buying one. Not really sure why, but I kind of fell in love with it's look. Probably overpaid for it's condition, but I kind of like the vibe it gives off.

There wasn't much information on it since there's no serials on the neck. There's pictures on the eBay listing. I haven't been able to find any other strats that have the same headstock decal without a serial number or "Made in X" marks somewhere on the neck. Not really sure what I bought, so I was hoping someone could help me out. Kind of thinking it might be just a parts guitar, maybe with a fake decal on the headstock? I don't know.

Take a look

Yea, parts guitar, Squire Neck, MightyMite PUs, not too much money, if you like the way it plays it's fine.

You bought diddly-squat - it's still an open auction listing on eBay, ends in just under 5 days. [EDIT - just to clarify - I know you won the auction at $266, but it looks like it has been relisted]

I notice there is a hole in the trem cavity, straight through to the pup cavity, bang in the centre of the bridge pup. It looks factory (assuming the paint is original). I've never seen that before. Anyone?

Yep, it does look a lot like this:

http://www.fender.com/squier/guitars/st ... age-white/

Though the tuner buttons are different - and I don't know what sort of tuner casings they're putting on those Squiers these days, so I'm not certain. Also, do Squiers nowadays have a serial number on the back of the headstock that this seller has sanded off?

Hi Sometimes, welcome to the Forum.

Well, you paid $266 for that one: street price for a new VM Squier seems to be about $250.

'Fraid it's not quite feeling like a bargain, is it? Never mind, maybe it sounds nice.

Cheers - C

Yes partcaster .

This guitar could be better than a Squier

Mightymite pickups ???

Migntymite look to be a American company

Everything to build guitars :

The Squier 70s has a set of Duncans though.

Yeah, for sure the Ebay guitar is made up of parts; I was just trying to guess what the chassis is. If it was a Fender underneath there somewhere it still wouldn't be a bargain but maybe not such a bad deal. Unfortunately, like you first indicated, it looks more like a Squier...

Seller just relisted it as a Squire with replacement neck.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fender-Squire-w ... 0575005870?

Ha - high five!

Though he's still not telling the truth: he says it's a Squier with a Fender neck, but it's obviously a Squier neck with a fake decal - plastic trussrod hole surround; diamondback tuners; etc. This is simply a Squier with some parts switched out. Oh well; the current price, $71, is a bit more realistic.

BTW: don't want to cast aspersions, but are we quietly wondering whether the Ebay seller ultimatepawn is one and the same as first-time Forum poster Sometimes, at the top of this thread? Apologies if I have that wrong, but...

Cheers - C

That line is made in Korea for budget guitars, I don't believe Mightymite is made in US either at this price.
