Hello friends.
My name is Eduardo Alayo, I'm from Lima-Peru
Please, I beg you can help me.
I have a Fender American Deluxe with 2 pivots bridge similar to an American Standard.
I want to know specifically what the correct location of these pins must be tight all the way?. On the back of the bridge indicate that there must be a distance of 1/8 "(maneuvering the screws holding the springs located in the back cavity).
The bridge height should be at the front? Obviously is set up so pivots.
There is a specific procedure for leave to point bridge these two pivots?
Otherwise. The two pivots are two large screws inserted into insertion 2 caps are penetrated into the wood of the body (insert screw bushing). Noto pretty slack when screwed pivots so I decided to change both the pins (screws) like caps.
How I can remove these caps and place new ones?, considering that they are well penetrated into the wood?.
I will be very grateful for your answers.

Hi docmusic: if you detune your strings the back of the bridge will move downwards towards the body till it touches the front of the guitar. Now you can adjust the two pivot screws until the front edge of the bridge is also just touching the front of the guitar. The whole bridge plate should now be flat to the surface of the wood. It should look like this:

Image

That is the correct height for the two pivot screws.

Next, retune the guitar. Now you can adjust the two screws at the back that hold the spring claw in place to keep the back of the bridge flat to the body (flush), or to allow it to raise 1.8" / 3.2mm above the wood (floating). This is a matter of personal preference.

I hope that's clear?

Cheers - C

Thank you for answering friend Ceri.
I do not speak or write in English. The message I sent to a program I translated.
His answer I translated into Spanish as you include translation is not necessarily correct.
I understand that you asked me the guitar cords should be loose, not tuned?, this is correct?, better still if they are not placed right? (in the case of regulating the bridge with a change of strings).
Otherwise. When starting the adjustment of the two screws (pivots), the springs that are in the rear cavity should be placed? (in my case I have three springs placed). I mean, if I leave the springs placed or retreat to adjust the height of the pivots.
Regarding the second part of my practice, I could help? (how to remove the bushing insert screw)
I will be very grateful for your response.

Ah...

Hola, docmusic. Yo no hablo español - arrepentido.

This ain't going to work through a translation program. Is there a Spanish speaker in the house, please...? :)

We're trying to tell him to set his pivot posts so the trem plate is exactly flat to the wood. Then set up his trem how he likes it.

Also, is he asking how to take the post bushings out? Well there's a way to do it - but don't. It's a terrible idea.

Cheers - C

Thank you very much for your interest in helping me.
The truth that I understood his message somewhat. Please confirm if you want me to start adjusting screws (pivots) should be placed springs that are attached to the claw. It is irrelevant that are placed or not?. The adjusting screws until the front of the bridge is flat to the surface of the wood if I understood.
I beg your patience and can help me correctly configure my bridge.
By the way, the attached graph is very educational.
Thank you.

Aflojar las cuerdas hasta que no haya tensión sobre ellos. Ajuste los pernos hasta que la placa puente es plana contra el cuerpo. Afine las cuerdas de una copia de seguridad con el tono correcto. Configure la guitarra de forma normal.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Thank you very much for answering BMW-KTM.
It was all very clear.
I made the adjustment of the bridge. Adjust the pivots until the base of the bridge is flat with the body of the guitar, both in front and back. All right.
What I have noticed is that one of the pivots has been more out than the other. I tried it several times but it has been so, perfectly flat plate with the body but with different height in the pivots
Thank you very much Ceri.
