I have a 98 Jeff Beck in Midnight purple. I would like to know if anyone out there knows what the paint code for this color is...not the Fender paint code which is 76. I have seached House of Kolor, TCPGLOBAL ect... and I can't find a color match. Is it a speial mix for Fender only? Was this a custom car color form the 50's, 60's or 70's...because I must have missed it going through all the paint chips on TCP. Anyone? Thanks in advance.

Du Pont might be worth a look - I think Fender used their paint codes, although not necessarily their paint. I'm afraid I've no idea if that was the case in '98 though, but it might help!

Fender still has it listed as an available color...I guess through the custom shop so it must be out there somewhere....

Hi vai-777: I understand what you're asking and I don't have the answer for you I'm afraid. I do have an interesting link:

http://fendercolorchart.webatu.com/charts.php

Frustratingly, as late as the 1965 colour chart on that page you will see that in those days Fender not only listed their own paint name but Du Pont's range and code as well. That's what you need - but I don't know how to link the former with the latter nowadays.

I notice that Midnight Purple seems to make its appearance in 1992, and since Fender often took their finishes from car colours that were current at the time you are probably looking for something that was on the streets around the late '80s, early '90s. I know that doesn't get you much further, but in the past I've found that information can at least narrow the search.

Another slim possibility would be to email the owner of that website. Judging by his contact page he seems ready to chat. Maybe he knows more.

Cheers - C

Did you try to ask Fender Consumer Relations Department..? (I know, they are busy but anyways.)

What I found on the net:
Alsacorp
Just scroll down to Midnight Purple - but don't trust this to be the real Fender color: there are many options for the same name, according to some car tuners' forums.
