Hi everybody!

I'm having some problems with my American Deluxe Strat HSS 3-color sunburst (2011). Bought her a year ago and already having to replace frets?
I'm using Fender .10 strings, and I do play a lot, but I don't believe that you should change your frets once a year?
Did anybody had a similar problem?
I'm thinking of complaining at the store... :/
Love the sound though, great feel, always there in the mix...

Cheers

You may not need to actually replace them, often a fret dress/recrown fixes a bit of fret wear.

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough.
My question was: did anyone else had a similar problem?
Half of fret gone after only one year of playing, especially on e1, b, and g strings?!
Tnx!

The e1, b and g frets do seem to take the brunt of the wear and depending on where you play, you might get more concentrated wear in a particular area or over the first few frets - for example, if you mostly form chords in the first position, you could expect more wear than if you played all over the fret board. Even so, I'd say for most players it was unusual to be thinking a refret was needed that soon on any strat, let alone a US model - I would expect more life out of them than that.

The thing about fret wear is that the longer you leave comparatively minor wear before getting a fret dress, the quicker the frets will wear out - in other words, a dent will get deeper more quickly than if you had the dent dressed out. At least, that's my perception of things - others might disagree of course!

Post some pictures maybe? Search the forum for instructions if you don't know how to do that
