By the S/N (DZ8------), I know it's a 2008 American Deluxe, but in trying to register with Fender, the rest of the features don't match the standard models.

It is an HSS, body has a transparent wine-colored finish (Ash, maybe?), tremolo, maple neck, rosewood fretboard, black-painted headstock, locking tuners. Any guesses?

Or you could just send an e-mail to consumerrelations@fender.com with your serial number and what it looks like. It may take a day or so, but they will send you all your guitars specs.

If I'm remembering correctly that was a special run for Guitar Center/Muscian's Friend; it would have had the 2008 specs with I believe a mahogany body.

It should have SCN single coils and a Fender Atomic humbucker (I think it was called "Atomic" by then, it used to be called the "DH-1") and the S-1 switching, but they didn't have that "passing lane" switch back then.

+1

It does sound like an FSR of some type -- if not GC/MF then perhaps Sam Ash or Sweetwater.

I own this very model, only it is a 2006. I contacted Fender via email with a descripion and the serial #. It is not in ANY Fender cataloge, it is a FSR for GC/MusiciansFriend. They did reply with the specs for my guitar. Some things are different depending on the year, for example mine came with locking tuners and the one in photo in this thread does not have them. I was told by Fender that hardware was changed thru the years to keep the cost down. I will say that I love this instrument! The neck on mine is wonderful, I have never seem such find fret finishing work on a mass produced guitar, I hope yours is the same.

When Fender runs out of parts they use whatever is laying around.
My MIM Jag has an MIA trem plate, so the trem arm they included didn't fit.
