No, it's this one!! 1986/87 American Standard called "Moby"

Why?

Because it's my #1 and it can't get ANY better than this one!!

Coincidentally, my #1 is a 1988 US Standard, gun metal blue metallic. If the house burns down that's the one I'd run in to rescue.

Oh my god. That guitar just... Wow. I want one like it. Love the red inlays and the red finish.. This isn't the Ferrari red isn't it? And the red pickups just set it off too.. Actually the whole setup just goes off like a frog in a sock

This guitar oooozes mojo.. If I had this guitar, it would be my perfect one.

Ferrari Red. It has the angled neck plate for really easy access... plays and sounds phenomenal. Better than any of my "Fenders", to be honest.

Technically, it's a bolt-on Strat headstock 22 fret neck bolted onto a guitar body with the same dimensions as a Strat, and it's made in the Fender Corona plant in California.

I actually have that same strat 89 but painted it black cuz I hate primary colors.
It developed a crack from tilt adjustment hole.
Im not sure why and one of the lower bolt holes too, body just splitting apart.
I ordered a new black body but that neck is about the best of my three strats.
I put a Fender Hot Rod humbucker in the bridge about a 15 ohm Alnico 5.
Sounds amazing

Well it's actually a Customshop Charvel San Dimas. But yes, licensed Stratocaster headstock too I might add. Not that I've ever owned one, this would blow away any H H Floyd equipped Strat. Also I bet that this customshop is priced a lot better than your average Customshop Relic or air brushed Jackson custom.

Not that we are competing or moaning. But y'all recognise that there is more to FMIC than strats and teles.. Even Fenders.

Top brand names, otherwise Fender needn't have bothered with them.

DG's #1?? But... that's a PARTSCASTER!! :P

Maybe DG's black one instead. Oh, wait... that's a bitsa too! Okay, I'll vote for EC's blackie... Umm, EVH's frankie... erm. Maybe not. SRV's Lennie! Actually, no... JG's Alligator! Hmm...

What I'm getting at is, I think all strats are, in a way, one big strat. A bit like clonal trees - first there was one, and for ever more there would be many more. To me, the best strat ever was the one that appeared in Leo Fender's head and to which every single other strat there has ever been owes its existence.

It could be legit and leans that way did you read the article? Only Seymour claims its not. Maybe he dont wanna look bad for selling it. Everyone else says it is legit.

Yes Donny, I read the article - I actually read it a while ago when it was first posted on gilmourish. It really wouldn't surprise me if they are talking about two entirely different but similar guitars, an original 54 and the one SD first sold to Alan Rogan, both with #0001 on the neckplate. If you believe anything of what is attributed to SD in that article, there are at least two strats with #0001 on the neckplate - the one which came from and went back to Richard Green, and the one SD pulled together from RG's original body and a random neck and then sold to AR. Who is to say there's not a third?

I find the whole debate about its origin and SDs comments on it quite amusing, which is the point of the 'razz' face :P and the capitals for PARTSCASTER...

Back to the topic, I still don't think it is the best strat ever :)

Me either, I think the list I posted from the pantheon of the gods is pretty close. But there is one... Mitch Mitchel just sold it to the Hendrix museum it was the white strat Jimi played at Woodstock. Since Jimi WAS and IS the best and his strat would be the best ever.

Really what makes it the best is the player not the guitar.
Another interesting fact is that when you teach T9 text to spell Jimi,
it gives two choices Jimi & King.

King Jimi Hendrix
