Hi all, I'm a proud owner of a brand spankin new American Special HSS I got during the sale-a-bration. It comes with the vintage style 6 screw trem and I'd like to replace the saddles with a block style but I need to know the string spacing to order the blocks. I did some searching on the web but no luck. I want to make sure I get the right thing the first time.
Edit: Also if there are any specific blocks you have used or are recommended, please feel free to suggest some :D

Contact the seller and ask them that same question. That way they will sell you the right spaced saddles for your bridge.

American Specials have the same bridges as 2006 and up Highway ones. Vintage mount Screw spacing with Narrow string spacing.

Ummm, have you considered taking a ruler and measuring it yourself? E to E at the bridge.

ACTUALLY bluesky, I have a micrometer and I did measure... problem is the numbers I got don't exactly land on the 2 measurement options that are offered from stewmac. and I am FAR from the handiest guy and don't like to make estimates. I just wanted to make sure I get the right thing is all. I figured someone here is a tech or knows his/her way around a strat or maybe someone from fender would answer. I actually kind of figured that this info would be readily available on the fender site but im finding that getting straight info from any manufacturer is not always cut and dry.

EDIT: lol after I posted, I called stewmac and they said theres no way they could cross-reference and figure out what id need. The hunt continues. :D

There are only two string spacings used by Fender on all current Strats: 2 1/16" and 2 3/16" (2 7/32").

If your measurement was 2 1/16" use 4756.

If it was 2 3/16" or 2 7/32" use 1887.

Simple.

My preference for 2 1/16" is these:

I use them on several of my guitars including my MIM Standard Strat.

ok, knowing that there's only 2 that fender uses is very helpful. the smaller ones that you use is the way I'd have to go. the measurement I have is closer to that. thanks for the help guys.
