Thanks, DNA! Lube the nuts and saddles, huh? *makes notes*

Oh and I doubt I'd ever sell this one, I don't think I could bear to.. Then again I bet all players say that on their first..!

Have been looking around for amps and have pretty much settled on getting a Vox AD15VT once I've paid the Strat off.. ahhh the wait is such sweet agony!

If you're making notes, then lubricating the nut and saddles usually just means rubbing the point of a pencil in the bottom of the groove to put a bit of graphite in there to help the string move smoothly. Easy as that.

The Vox is as good a first amp as any. Many manufacturers do something similar: there is a knob that lets you select digital simulations of around a dozen of the fundamental amplifier sounds offered by classic amp makers (Fender, Marshall, Vox, etc), so you can begin to get an idea what the fundamental distinctions in sound are. In a year or two you'll know which kinds of tones you like best - then you start shopping for the real thing!

Good luck

Ahh, fantastic, thank you Ceri! :D

The Vox I've decided upon as it's the smallest actual valve amp, rather than solid state, plus it has very good reviews whereas the reviews of other amps around that size and price range were quite mixed.

I had a good listen to a few people on YouTube playing through it - I even found some playing my HSS through one! - and it sounded fantastic through all kinds of playing styles.

I realise with the YouTube players that some will have had other equipment mixed in there too, but overall as somewhere to start the Vox sounding great, pardon the pun! :)
