Hey guys, ive been a fan of fender for a long time, but i never had a fender strat...
im planning to get my first strat, i currently have a gibby lp standard 03 an ibanez prestige rg2620 duncan blackouts, so i want a cool looking guitar, a good for pop-rock-jazz style of music... i play in my curch so and i dont use heavy overdrive or distorted sound... i was looking for an american special strat or maybe a deluxe players strat...

which one will hold its value better? the features on the mim deluxe are quite nice...but the special is american made...so... im not sure of which strat is the right one... any advice will be apreciated

Hi ericlees,

Typically, MIA will hold value better. Both that you mentioned are fine guitars, and either would be a fine player. Your choice might depend on whether you prefer the Vintage Noiseless pups in the Dlx Plyr or the Texas Specials pups in the Am Spcl.

I'd save 'cool' for a Saturday night gig, and warm+, but refined for Sundays. Shimmi's offered some intersting ideas. If cost is not an issue, an American Standard HSS in Sienna Sunburst ought to satisfy those needs as well. With that HB at the bridge, that guitar can rip, but a single coil in the neck position, with the tone rolled off should be just perfect for those quiet times.

Yep...an american standard would be great but here all the fender products are quite expensive... In the USA u can get great prices, but here the price list is the official price so... The American special instead of $799 is $1249 plus 16%of taxes.... And so on,so the American standard is beyond my budget...

Have you tried second hand?
When I finally decided to get one I could afford a MIM new, but I played a few 2nd's at my local luthier and found I could get a '93 MIA for the same price.
