Hi. I have a 1991 ultra strat with blue-gold-double red lace sensors, and I LOVE them: low noise, good tone, good sustain, and less need to constantly mute to avoid strings ringing because they have less powerful magnets. I've NEVER considered swapping them.

So this is what it takes to roust you out, eh mate?? Nice to hear from you.

Hey guys, coming back to this thread I started way back when. I've been experimenting off and on with a few Lace Sensors on my 1994 Clapton strat. In the neck I've tried Emerald and Silver, in the middle Silver, and in the bridge Purple and Burgundy.

Neck: I didn't like the Silver, I thought it was too muddy. Although it helped a lot when I lowered the height. The Emerald, as expected, was between the Gold and Silver, but probably closer to the Gold. I liked it.

The Silver was better in the middle than the neck, as long as the height was low. Not sure I like it better than the Gold, though.

The Purple and the Burgundy in the Bridge were interesting. Both had a certain midrange emphasis, but different parts of the midrange spectrum. I didn't really like the Purple, but I LOVED the Burgundy. When strumming clean first position chords, damn, it sounded more Tele than my Tele. The nerd in me says to try some others (Silver in the Bridge?) but another side of me says, why bother? you've found your bridge pickup. (Of course this is just my personal taste, I'm sure others would prefer the Gold or Purple or something else, depending on what kind of music they play).

What was interesting is that, once I had the amp in distortion, it didn't really matter whether I had the Gold, Burgundy or Purple in the bridge. They all sounded the same. But playing clean, there were obvious differences. (I recorded little samples of each)

Sorry this took so long, it's been a lower priority than practicing, gigging, songwriting...

I had the Red (B) / Silver (M) / Blue (N) set in my Black Strat for a while (and in another old red strat) and I really liked them. Very versatile for all styles (we do covers) and very low noise. I found them very articulate and they never seemed dull or muddy.

I only took them out because I wanted to go back to a more traditional Gilmour look on the Black Strat and I put in DiMarzio's which are practically silent and amazing sounding.

I have EMG's in my current Red Strat and they are awesome pickups.
