Hi David,

Bad luck that you don’t have musicstores in your neighbourhood.
Choosing a guitar is something personal. The guitar you might like, might be a crappy guitar for someone else.
Try some Stratocasters at a musicstore, just go for the sound and the feel you’re looking for, and not just for the lable “Made in USA”
My Fender Stratocaster is a “Made in Japan”, built in 1987.
Funny thing is that this Strat is made in the FujiGen Gakki factories, the same factories where the Ibanez guitars are made.
I’m having this Strat for 26 years now, and I still enjoy playing on it.

Take care, Robert

I would try to get that classic vibe back. They're an awesome starting guitar, actually they're a pretty great guitar in general, i've thought about getting one on a few occasions.

At the moment, i'd veer away from getting anything new until you get more of an idea of what you want. Dropping a big chunk of change right away is usually a mistake as your taste for what you want is going to develop over time. So i'd say get your classic vibe back or try picking up a second hand MIM strat. That way you've got a bit left in the tank to get something you really want down the track.

Also, 80% of your tone is going to come from your amp. I'd really reccomend you invest in something like a Blues Jr or a Super Champ XD (if you're into modelling), before tossing all your money in the guitar pit.
