Why assume it's the pickups that produce that sound?

I know that there are many variables that go into his tone such as amp, pedals, cables, and FINGERS. I was just curious as to what you guys thought about the pickups...

My favorite pickups are the Hot Alnico 3s and the Atomic humbucker I can get those old Aerosmith tones.

Yep lovely playing such great talent for a young modest guy.
I won't link it but premier guitar has a rundown of his gear so just do a search for it... Joe Robinson rig rundown.
His blue strat has Aussie Mick Brierly pickups but as mentioned the total sound is more the skill of the player and the sum of his gear than any one thing.

+1

As with most talented artists.

+1!

It's the combination of all: equipment used and style of player, recording techniques .... all kinds of stuff!

If it was that easy to get a sound just by buying different pickups, there wouldn't be any stars on stages anymore!

Being able to sing and play like that just isn't natural. He's obviously an alien, probably with alien technology pickups.

I think he is just asking about the general guitar tone.

Someone here pointed out he does have an aftermarket pickup but it seems geared at creating a pretty common Fender tone.
I wouldnt think you would need to change pickups to get his basic tone.
Its pretty straty

I believe the tone you're referring to is from a compressor.

Some compressors (such as the dyna comp) add a bit of their own tone to the guitar.
