I found this 89 American Standard hanging in a little shop next to my place.
I just fell in love with it but one thng...
I hated the color.
It reminded me of my work clothes covered in metal dust.
Gun Metal Blue they called it

Image

I gave it a new doo.
Painted the body black and stuck a Fender Hot Rod Alnico 5 humbucker in
Same Thing as a Diamondback or Atomic in Aged white
Aged White Strat plastic set and Tortise Shell Lonestar Pickguard
Now Thats What Im Talkin About :)

8) axe, pal!

IMO this guitar would be cooler with black pickup covers and matching plastic parts for more of a Dan Huff/Michael Landau vibe!

Hi chromeface :) I was going for that very look but...
I only had 2 Black DH-1/Diamondback/Atomics.
I used one in the other Guitarists Floyd Rose Strat along with Texas Specials and I put the other in my Floyd Rose Strat
So I went for the Lonestar look with the Aged White one I had

All my strats now have Fender Singles and the 16 ohm Alnico 5 Fender Humbucker.
Sure makes switching guitars less painfull to my Amp Patches no need to adjust anything.
Both Les Pauls run 498ts which are very simular also.
Here's a link to the photo album of my gear 8)

Flea's got the dress issue knocked. Only has to think about trousers. Or not think about 'em at all.

Well Im sorry man it was pretty beat up though it had seen the years.
I really like the body good and heavy and all.
It has a couple of natural cracks though one at the tilt and one at the 4 bolt hole next to it.
A little tiny split you might say just a wood thing thats happening
Anyway is what it is now lol :)

I am feeling better now! :D GMB is really quite collectable but if cracks and chipped, well then paint away! Were you able to prevent the neck cracks (if that is what they were) from coming back after you painted the guitar?

They are small and I had them looked at they wont grow and dont effect tuning or stability they show a little its like there is a knot in it or something there in that area of the wood.

This is my parts list
