+1 for the black knobs. Should look the business with the ebony fingerboard.

Great build, thanks for sharing and the level of detail is terrific :D

BTW your website is great as well

I would vote for the black knobs, can't wait to see the finished guitar!

I found your build so interesting that I went an looked at the price of parts. How much does it cost in parts to build an ultra or delux class strat like guitar this way? Just a ballpark number is fine.

Another question, do strat bodies only fit strat necks? I suppose if they were not a match then it would be tricky to place the bridge. It looks like all the warmoth bodies are pre drilled, is that true?

I was able to get the pickguard to fit after a little tweaking. Man it is taking shape and I believe the black Ebony on the Ultra neck will set it off even more. I have a chrome plated Ultra bridge on the way too. This one is taken from the standard plus guitar.

So tell me—what do you think of using 52 Telecaster knobs? Does it look too cheesy???? Or should I used Black knobs instead?

I like the chrome knobs, but there a flashier model that has a swirled black cherry on the tops.

Jeff: Do you have the equipment to rout a Clapton body for this circuitry? I'm thinking of my old TelePlus we spoke of in that regard.

X...No worries...that might be a nice body, but you don't have the parts I like! Anywho...I am with Detroit Blues with the tele knobs, but I would try and find the esquire ones...they are a bit shorter and would go well with the chrome domes and the bridge and add just a bit of bling to it.

FWIW

Hey ZZ, I really do not feel comfortable doing that kind of routing. On this project I had to take off the ears of the humbucker route to get the Lace Dually to fit. It was done clean and was a simple bit of routing. But the Clapton boost route is more than that as you know and would require a good jig/template. Our man for that job is Mr C!

My question concerned re-routing the body for a Dually at the bridge. More via PM.

:D Ha - always happy to help with that sort of thing. My services are free - sadly those of DHL/UPS/etc are not...

Still: as it happens I just made myself a nice new highly accurate humbucker template just the other day. Standing by.

Cheers - C

I can see your dilema...black with black looks equally as nice as the chrome combo. Maybe you should build one of each!

Yes I go back and forth. Chrom Domes look really nice, but the black would
bring out the flame on the body a lot more.

I received my new old stock Fender Ultra bridge today. These have chrome saddles, and of course a pop in Tremelo bar. These are getting harder and harder to find. More to come!
