These guitars are your first custom builds with rear-routed controls. They look more like a superstrat than a Plus/Ultra IMO.

Not sure if you plan making another custom backrouted Ultra build with a Mini Floyd bridge and an HHH configuration featuring a Lace Chrome Dome Dually in the bridge and two Lace Hemis in the neck & middle.

Was the choice of a chambered body a weight consideration or tone consideration (or both)?

LOL, well truth is, I bought the body after watching Warmoth for a few months, looking for one that I really liked the look (and cost!). After I ordered it and paid for it, I saw in the email Warmoth sent, which described what I bought, that it was a chambered body. I have not weighed it yet but find the idea—interesting. :o

"Item Number: PS6215, Chambered Stratocaster®, Right handed, Flame Maple on Swamp Ash, Top Rout, F-Holes: None, Pickup Rout: (Strat®, Strat®, Humbucker), Bridge: American Standard Strat® Tremolo, Jack Rout: Strat® Top Jack Rout, Top Finish: Red Dye, Back Finish:Transparent Red."

My chambered Tele Bass weighs just over 5 pounds. Think would be just under if I weighed it with the strap off.

Both of those flame tops are rather daunting.
They seem to say. " Don't you even think about distorting my voice, just a bit of reverb "

Clean thru a super reverb, perhaps just a bit of delay. Lock the doors, turn off the I-phone a snifter of Grand Marnier.
Then just relax and spend many hours creating new sounds ...

I have both of these finished now. While I have not played the antique flame that much yet, I did play the red flame last Thursday at a jam. Man, I can honestly say this is the nicest playing and most versatile and balanced sounding guitar I have EVER played. And I have owned and played a lot. :-) This has a Seymour Duncan Jazz humbucker in the neck with a coil splitting switch. When I was playing Thursday evening. I would kick the amp into tube driven overdrive and man the harmonics just jumped out. And the volumes were very evenly matched except when I would used the Jazz in full humbucker mode. Then it was a bit more powerful and perfect for jumping in to a solo. The guitar has so many variations. I am impressed as you can tell. Now I need to play the sunburst one in a live situation and see how it does.

Note the new knobs on the guitar. A friend of mine in Germany suggested these. He has bought like 3 guitars from me and REALLY wants this one.

Here are the twins in their full glory. I have the vintage hybrid bridge on the antique burst one.

Below is the next build on my bench. Again a mahogany chambered Warmoth body. Super nice grain in the mahogany. The top is AAA flamed Maple. I have a Purple Lace in the neck and Silver Lace in the middle, plus Red/Blue Dually in the bridge. I taped off the body to protect the finish from hot solder and bumps. Wiring a back loader is a bit tricky.

Pretty clean when it is all buttoned up. More space too than wiring a pickguard! This will be stunning when it is done. I have a NEW OLD STOCK 1990 Ultra Neck with Ebony fretboard. What a score to find this neck. It was off a guitar owned by a ABC TV Producer in LA who bought an Ultra and did not like Ebony. So he had Fender send him a replacement neck. I have the original box with his name on it and it was shipped to ABC's studios. I will post the finished product when it is done!

REDELICIOUS

One is more beautiful than the other...and I think you *might just* have more than a little feel for what makes a great guitar

Is this three or four rear mounted bodies in a row?

btw...How many guitars are in this build thread?

Gonna have to adjust the "subject" line in the Build Thread :D

Yo Jeff!

We didn't get much more from Paul Gagos who left Fender before the Clapton project got off the ground, but I bet you could figure out a way to rewire that red Clapton so it plays fully passive when the preamp is off.

I never asked my guy on this end if he could. Perhaps I ought to.
