Ketil told me he plays his Ultra through a Fractal Audio AXE FX II (Marshall preamp modelling system). Then the signal goes through a Marshall 20/20 Tube 1U amp into two halfs of two Marshall 4 x 12" 1960 cabs. He also sends two line signals from the Marshall amp into the return circuit of two 100W Marshall 900, and then through the other half of the 4 x 12" Marshall 1960 cabs.

Yeah, I could tell.

A friend in Norway says the AXE FX is da bomb, but it's not sold in Norway, so he used the Eleven Rack instead. He's a hard rock player and has never heard of Ketil...until now. :D

But you *need* to PLAY notes on that rig to disturb the peace.

How do YOU prepare gear for long distance shipping? What does it cost to send something of that kind?

Hey Doc, I pack it the same way I pack all my guitars! LOL! I put soft foam padding in the case, make sure the neck and body joint is well supported (Hate those hairline cracks ya know!), and keep the guitar from moving around in the case. On this guitar I used a new SKB case because they support the neck really well. Sorry that this pict is a bit blurry but was taken in haste with my iPhone before I packed it for shipping. :?

One thing I always do is wrap the complete guitar case in commercial plastic wrap. This seals the case off from moisture. There is foam put in the bottom of the box and then the whole box is stuffed with styrofoam peanuts and extra cardboard on the flat sides.I really don't worry about guitars being shipped to Europe as much as I do worry about them being shipped sometimes across the United States. The more the boxes are handled by UPS or any other carrier, the more of a chance there is for it to be damaged because they throw these boxes around when they are loading and unloading. I think the greatest chance of it getting damaged is right here where I live, when the UPS drivers drive on the dirt back county roads! BTW Ketil is sending a set of pickups and complete wiring plate from a 1963 Telecaster. Umm that to do with those?
