quick question, I am rewiring my Strat, and the wires are all bad, so what kind of wire do you use for your wiring? Where do you get it?

Hey, I don't do a whole lot of rewiring so I buy a couple of colors of 24 gauge, stranded wire at the local electronics store. My cost is between $4 & $5 for 25 feet.

You can always buy smaller, more expensive lots on ebay. Like some of that "cloth push back" type or whatever.

A smaller gauge means a thicker wire and you may find that 18 ga, for instance, is too thick to fit through tab on your pot.

Thanks

Hi guys: just checking in here to see how Xhefri's build turned out, so if you'll excuse me for a moment I'm briefly going to interupt all this interesting computer talk and reboot the thread back to this:

Way to go, X-Man! A big LIKE coming atcha from this direction.

And with that, we return you to the latest installment of OS-Chat... :)

 quite right

Haha - don't worry, man, there's a long and happy tradition round here of hijacking build threads. Nobody minds: it's all good clean fun. :)

Cheers - C

HELLO! :D

Fellow Fender Forumites: which of us would not dearly love to get our sticky fingers around that axe for an evening or 20? Can you fault this man's knowledge, skill and sheer damn good taste? Huh? 8)

Jeff... you win! It looks great and am pleased to see the knobs you chose look great on there too - well worth the five days procrastinating about buying them I think.

Thanks again for sharing what you did here. Am now gassing for something red with TBX and an ebony neck :D

Mr Miami, all is well here. I stopped receiving notices that people were posting on here. Wonder why that happens. I looked over the reflectolas a couple days ago. A Les Paul or an Ultra will be on the way this week! JK. I like the gift card idea.

Also Mr C. Thanks for getting this back on track. I am sure Greenheart, Radioamp, (AKA 3 or 4 other Alias') was smirking...

I have two other builds on the way but no time to take pictures. When I am done I will post them on here. BTW I have a Gold/Platinum recording artist who wants to buy this red flame guitar. Anyone ever hear of Ketil Stokkan in Norway?

This guy?

Well, one thing we've just learnt about him is he has excellent taste in guitars!

I hope you keep records of where all your guitars go, Mr X. I bet it would turn into an impressive looking chart... 8)

Cheers - C

That be him. Guess in Norway and some other European countries he is well known with a number of #1 hits going back to the 1970s. He is a big Fender Ultra fan. Here he is playing last Dec in Norway:

Ketil's Ultra has been customized with a white pearloid pickguard and chrome dome knobs.

Pearloid-guard Ultras didn't came into surface until 1992/93.

Glad to hear this guitar is going to a 'player' and won't live in a case somewhere. :D

Keep these builds coming, great work!

I just watched the video. Man, his ultra sounds good. Red Lace Sensors don't get the cred they deserve and that video did them justice :)

Ketil told me he plays his Ultra through a Fractal Audio AXE FX II (Marshall preamp modelling system). Then the signal goes through a Marshall 20/20 Tube 1U amp into two halfs of two Marshall 4 x 12" 1960 cabs. He also sends two line signals from the Marshall amp into the return circuit of two 100W Marshall 900, and then through the other half of the 4 x 12" Marshall 1960 cabs. You confused yet? Trade secret so do not tell any one! LOL! 8)
