Well getting close to done. Just waiting on those special knobs that were suggested to me to put the finishing touch on this Fire Red Storm Looking Strattypoo. First things first, getting to some unfinished business. I need to get the black ground wires soldered on the back of the pots and also connect the white wire for the springs and the ground wires for the pickguard assembly. Oh, I forgot the wire to the hot lead of the plus on the middle lug of the volume control.

Here you see it all soldered-up. And when I flip her over on her back… you can see the ground wire for the springs—i.e. bridge. I am following Fender by using a white wire for this. Why do they do that???

Next it is soldered and in place. Everything lines up SWEET. I will give you a few sneak peeks (no charge) of where she is sitting, waiting…. to be finished.

Ok, we need to get those Schaller Strap Locks mounted. LOL, I am sure these are Schaller…. I use a really small drill bit to make the inicle hole, then use a bit bigger one that is marked to about 2/3rd of the length of the acre. This way, when you screw in the screw, the last part of hole is smaller and thus a better bite for the screw. Hate these things coming loose! I have my baggy of black felts as well to put between the strap lock and the body.

This next procedure ZZDoc will appreciate. I have the back route set up like something in an operating room. One does not want to get hot solder on the finish. I also set the clamp device down inside the Trem route—it fits perfect! What I am doing here is soldering the ground wire to the spring claw. I am putting a -------- ummm---- tremsetter in this guitar just like the Plus' and Ultras.

Next step, get those spring claws put in place without scratching the finish.

Ok, this guitar is taking shape. I adjusted the bridge screws so they fit perfectly in the missile of the bridge pivots. And then popped the strings on!

Well, like I said, I am still waiting on those custom knobs. So that is unfinished. But one thing that was amazing—the guitar setup was almost right on after stringing it. I just need to do the intonation, Man this plays sweet and the Ebony on the neck is fast and smooth.

Next will be showcase pictures after I get the custom knobs on!

You never can fault Mr X's taste with these things. Slap a Forum logo on the back of the headstock and you've got a Forum FSR Strat that many of us could get behind.

Just sayin'... :D

To Mike: I have family in Watertown who right this second have "stuff" happening outside their door. All of you in that zone are at the front of our thoughts during these minutes and hours. Stay safe, please.

Cheers - C

OK...OK... I know your getting sick of looking at this guitar. :? But the custom knobs came in last Thursday and I popped them on. What do you think? These are expensive but man they fit nice and snug, turn evenly, and tightened down straight. I have always been a stock look knob guy when it comes to Strats. But the red on top of these look a lot like the body. My 24 year old son popped into the shop, who has little interest in guitars, and said, WOW, that looks cool. And those knobs are really nice. Soo I guess that must mean something, eh???

Here is a sneak-peek at another build on the way. Wonder what a Seymour Duncan Alnico II pickup will sound in the neck position on a Strat? I have done a number with Seth Lover, and 59PAF humbuckers. Also a couple with DiMarzio Air Nortons and Classic humbuckers. But this pickup look intriguing. Have any of you used one of these?? New to me.... Does anyone have an interest in seeing another thread with another build? :?:
